Wie sagt man so schön: „In schnellem Wasser ist gut Fische fangen.“ So ist das auch an der Peene. Usedom und die Fischerei gehören einfach zusammen. Auch wenn die traditionelle Fischerei auf Usedom als alleinige Einkommensquelle in den letzten Jahren kaum noch eine große Bedeutung hat.
Wenn man jedoch im sogenannten Achterland einem Einheimischen die Frage stellt, wo man guten und frischen Fisch bekommt, kommt immer wieder der Insider-Tipp: „Rankwitz“. Also haben wir es ausprobiert, um den Auftrag, für Bekannte Fisch von der Insel Usedom mitzubringen, zu realisieren. Der Tipp war sehr gut. Der dort verkaufte Matjes ist ein Gedicht für alle Fisch-Liebhaber.
Der Fischverkauf befindet sich direkt am Hafen von Rankwitz, der fast malerisch in einer kleinen Bucht der Peene liegt. Er ist in jedem Fall einen Besuch wert. Direkt neben der Fischverkaufsstelle befindet sich auch ein Fisch-Restaurant. Der frische Fang wird also an Ort und Stelle verarbeitet und gelangt praktisch direkt zum Kunden. Frischer geht es nicht.
Rankwitz ist jedenfalls einen Ausflug wert.
